Vexar Entertainment Bio

Vexar Entertainment is a promotions, development, and management company from Memphis, TN. Created in 2002 as a promotions Web site, Vexar Entertainment soon became well known throughout Memphis as a trustworthy and dependable place to promote one's band. Later, Vexar Entertainment teamed up with local band, Bad Apple, and developed into a promotions and booking company. At that time, Vexar Entertainment also worked with local bands Catfish Jake, more speciffically Scott Sorrells, and the now legendary 7$Sox.

Vexar Entertainment had a good run until the unfortunate demise of it's flagship band, Bad Apple. Vexar Entertainment went on hiatus, still keeping in contact with the musicians it had worked with until reaching a point where owner/operator, David Thorn, turned Vexar Entertainment into a political Web site and decided to no longer work with local musicians.

Thorn was content with no longer being involved with local music, until former Bad Apple frontman, Tracy Ruble, and his brother Chris, who had just created The Fast Mothers, contacted him for help. Resistant at first, Thorn gave in knowing whatever project these two were involved with, would be successful on some level. He knew with his involvement, he could help The Fast Mothers go further and faster. Content on managing just the one band, Thorn turned down offers from other bands until he saw no reason not to expand Vexar Entertainmentand asked other bands that impressed him to join.

In the Fall of 2005, Thorn decided to give back to the community and created the Vexar Entertainment Volunteer Services. The Vexar Entertainment Volunteer Services organized Memphis musicians to perform for St. Jude's Target and Grizzlies Houses. Feeling good about the success of these projects, Thorn has decided to more, and new opportunites are in the works.

In January of 2006, Thorn created "The Vexar Entertainment Hour" which is Memphis' first podcast to showcase unsigned and Indie Rock bands from Memphis and the Midsouth, streams new episodes every Monday at VexarEntertainment.com. In May of 2006, Thorn also began to host the Local Music News Report which airs Fridays at 6:10PM on WEGR Rock 103. And finally in December of 2006, Thorn started The Vexar Entertainment CD & Stage Review which gives local musicians an alternative source to have their CD's reviewed other than the local publications.

Bands come and go and Vexar has decided to let it's official roster thin and help more unsigned artists and the local scene as a whole. And, while others follow the path Vexar Entertainment has already blazed, Thorn will, most assuredly once again, leave that path and start blazing a whole new one. BIG things are coming soon!
